This week, radio veteran and certified tastemaker, Annie Mac is our #WCW. A woman who is on top of many people’s list of inspirations, she is incredibly influential. With remarkable careers in both radio and DJ’ing Annie is an icon.
Getting her first BBC Radio 1 show in 2004, Annie Mac is still queen of the airwaves, her show drawing over 1 millions listeners. Although she is currently on maternity leave from BBC she remains active in the scene. Just this past week Annie presented the 3rd instalment of her ‘Lost & Found’ festival in Malta.
Curating and playing the festival, Annie Mac uses her platform to showcase up and coming artists she is championing. Her other taste-making endeavour is her concert series, AMP Collected. Hosting the likes of Charli XCX, Sampha and Ray BLK, AMP Collected has been hugely successful.
Annie has worked her way to becoming one of the most trusted voices in music. Her determination to break new artists is something any budding tastemaker could lear a lot from. Watching Annie’s empire continue to grow is so empowering. She has made the most out of every opportunity that has come her way is showing no signs of slowing down.
