We are pleased to announce the release of Strict Face’s new track ‘Afterparty’, a collaboration with UK producer Tarquin featuring Yayoyanoh. Where Strict Face’s previous releases have showcased his signature experimental grime sound, ‘Afterparty’ see’s him reveal a slightly more stripped back and lighthearted side.
‘Afterparty’ is the first single off Strict Face’s forthcoming EP, ‘This Heat’ that is due out on September 29th. Not only the first track to be released, ‘Afterparty’ was also the track that got the ball rolling.
‘Afterparty’ is probably the oldest track out of the whole bunch, Dave (Tarquin) and I made the tune over at his house when I was touring the UK last year” – Strict Face.
Immediately after hitting play you are sucked into the flow of the track along with Yayoyanoh’s lyrics. The dancehall-esque broken beat is impossible to ignore and one that will have everybody moving. Speaking on the instrumental Strict Face says “it was originally the 2nd half of a track but there was something charming about it so we ended up scrapping the first half of it.”
After completing the track all that was left was to find the perfect vocal. “Funnily enough, at an afterparty, Ayub (Yayoyanoh) heard the tune and freestyled the lyrics which eventually became “Afterparty.” “A few mix downs later, and a future smash hit was born!” – Strict Face
A playfully fun song that is bound to be an anthem for afterparties everywhere, we are super excited to be putting out new music from Strict Face. ‘After Party’ is available everywhere now so go grab it and make sure you stay locked for ‘This Heat’ EP coming later this month.
